Barbara HOLL, our labor law attorney, provides an overview of local labor laws in Alsace and Moselle.
Local law is a body of law whose application is limited to the departments of Haut-Rhin (68), Bas-Rhin (67), and Moselle (57). It governs many aspects of legal, economic, and social life, as well as religious life.
Thus, in labor law, local law includes specific provisions that distinguish it from the general regime, such as the continued payment of wages in the event of absence (without a waiting period) for a “relatively insignificant period of time.”
In particular, it applies to employees who normally work in one of these departments, regardless of where the headquarters of the company that employs them is located.
